Medical Students with Dr. Shintani

Welcome to the Dept of Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the John A. Burns School of Medicine. At the Wellness Center, we have 7 practitioners who are double, triple, or quadruple trained in at least one conventional healing modality and at least one "alternative" healing modality.

To work with Dr. Shintani, please check on the schedule by calling 692-0908. He usually sees patients on Tuesday afternoon and on Thursday morning. If there are more than two students in a rotation, the schedule may be staggered so that there are no more than two per day. He can be reached at 2551696. Please send him an email at drshintani@gmail.com with contact information so that he has your name, email address and phone number.

Dr. Shintani is the Associate Chair of the CAM Dept in charge of clinical practice. He is a member of the National Advisory Board to the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. He is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine, is credentialed in Nutrition and worked for 18 years in Family Practice at a community health center. (see his description on this blog)

Please be prompt at the Wellness Center and please wear your white coat and bring your stethoscope. You may be asked to do vital signs, brief physical exams, and SOAP notes. You may also be asked to do literature search and read up on topics of interest.
